India achieved their greatest-ever Test win in terms of an innings and 300 runs after defeating Afghanistan by at the one-off Test located at New Chandigarh. Manav Suthar, is a young spinner who played his first game and was the chief architect of this demolition job with an outstanding bowling performance which tore through the Afghan batting.
Coming into Day 3 already on the back foot, Afghanistan started to crumble at his hands and Suthar recorded terrific first-innings figures of 6 for 33. Thanks to his effort, Afghanistan could only muster 152 all out in their second innings as India established a sporting lead of 412 runs after having declared at the end of day one on 564 for eight. Former Indian cricketer, Suthar’s six-wicket was one of the best bowling performances on Test debut by any Indian bowler.
The main resistance from Afghanistan came through Rahmat Shah, who dug in to score a valiant 60 runs and put India on the back foot with his dogged will against India’s bowling. cricket But Afghanistan lost hope in a hurry after Suthar sent him packing. Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna was also a key contributor to the victory, taking 3 wickets and troubling the batters with his tight line and length.
India made the follow-on with a massive lead in hand. Showcasing a much more aggressive approach in their second innings, Afghanistan looked to be propelled by Sediqullah Atal. The opener, with his attacking footwork against the spinners in particular, was able to apply some pressure on the hosts during a knock where he scored 42.

But India’s spin twins of Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav unravelled any hopes. Sundar also used drift and accuracy to take 4 for 36, while Kuldeep picked up three wickets. It was their relentlessly disciplined bowling which caused the Afghanistan middle and lower order to collapse.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz never looked back in his short innings of 24 runs but Afghanistan lost track when he was dismissed. The trio of Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi and Atal also fell while going for the acceleration.
Even after tea, Afghanistan’s lower-order batters tried to attack but they were soon ground under the pressure. Suthar added one more to his wicket haul as many batters fell trying big shots.
Afghanistan’s innings ended on 112, giving India the victory by an innings and 300 runs in their first-ever Test match. Guyguys -the match will be remembered for the outstanding debut from Manav Suthar whose innings helped India to a test win by an absorbent margin.
